I haven't been for quite some time, but I agree the fish were certainly there. That was the frustrating part you would often see fish over 5 lbs. (sometimes a lot bigger than that).
They just weren't all that easy to catch (at least for me). You had to be very stealthy. If you exposed your silluette or stomped on the banks they were gone.
For me I'd describe them as taking my flies with a great deal of reluctance and very little passion. Maybe thats because my senses were numbed by the cold.
But don't get me wrong, many times I skipped duck and deer hunting to be there for the challenge. I loved the searun fishing, maybe I'll give it a whirl this winter again, after a long absence.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I stopped searun fishing about the same time my son started playing ice hockey - not enough time for both.
