I have a good amt. of experience fishing Lauderdale. The whole surfline produces fish early mornings and right before/after dark (look for areas where lights from hotels, etc. shine into the water) with jumpin minnows and similar plugs--small to medium jacks mostly. On the canal (ICW) side, the jacks are huge and the tarpon--I don't even want to talk about it. When I first saw them I thought they were manatees--no lie. Go to the charter boat docks when they come in. They'll start filleting fish and throwing scraps into the water. Every time this happens huge schools of resident jacks and tarpon go crazy. Just throw a bunny fly down and hold the hell on. Some of the jacks are so big, they are pretty much unlandable given the situation. Bring some extra flylines--I always wish I had more. If people start kicking you out, find your own scraps and start your own disgusting feeding frenzies. Good luck man...
