Russ are you finding pike close to home? Do you fish Fairhaven or the Charles? Years ago, when the Ma. pike program
first got started I used to have a ball catching pike at Lake Cochituate. Back then almost no one knew about the fish
and you could easily get 4 or 5 keepers up to 10lbs in one day. Then the word got out, articles appeared in news papers
and magazines. Next thing you know, I couldn't even get a parking place at my favorite spot. Every single keeper landed
was killed, mostly for bragging rites. Not surprisingly, the fishing fell way off real fast. I haven't caught a pike in
five years. I've held off on going to the Concord or Charles, partly because of horror stories of crowds of "undesirables"
and partly out of mistrust of river ice. I'd like to get back into it. Let me know if it's still worth while.
