15 years ago, when I still lived in CT, a fishing buddy of mine used to drag me down to ice fish in coves of the CT river. We'd set traps for pike and jig for panfish. This fishing was MUCH more productive than the dozens of trips I've made in Minnesota for walleyes -- we'd actually catch fish, it was'nt 20 below zero and the ice was thick enough to be safe, but not so thick that drilling another hole was a major ordeal (in Minnesota the ice is often 3 feet thick..). On a good day we'd be so occupied with sunnies, crappies and yellow perch that we often failed to see the flag go off on a pike rig. We would also plug the warm water effluent below the nuke plant for pike as well. My friend's best fish there was a tad over 13 lb. Feel free to email me if you want suggestions on where to try.

Eric Lund
P.S. You need a license to fish above tidewater in CT. As a sort of catch 22 you also need to buy a license to get the regulations that define where the tidwater is in each estuary.
