Rocky and me caught "tons" of the big pogy everyone calls "shad" last week in RI. Ponds were full of 'em. Hickories seem to hit just about anything. Slow retrieve with a 5" clouser had one almost every cast. Great fun on light spin/fly gear - say 4-5wt. Had one "monster' of about 4lbs. Heard they can get to about 6lbs.
One word of warning - they are covered in a very STRONG smelling oil. gets on everything (you should smell my waders!)....
