I too have a boat in the westport (pulled it Tuesday - the boat that is!) Shad are plentiful and as others have related fun to catch on light gear. small clouser flies work for us. they tend to jump when hooked and if you use light tackle and your imagination they can be mini-tarpon. never saw them before last three or four years-now plkentiful.
