Ya know, 'til I watched that video, I figured I was doing ok, 35-40'of fly line out the tip under optimal conditions. Wind is another matter. As LB points out, boat position is far more critical especially for the novice. Now I watch this Lefty dude cast an entire fly line holding the rod with only his thumb and forefinger, and then effortlessly do the same thing with just the top half of the fly rod...gotta tell ya I'm feeling pretty inadequate. I am going to re-watch that video very carefully cuz this ole boy is missing something very major in his casting technique!! Thanks again Mike for the loan and the flies. (did you get my Email?)
