Fished the flats via the reliable 17'Mohawk canoe again last night. Was on the water at 4pm, catching a good part of the incoming tide.(8pm High)

Armed with Fly & Spinning Rods headed out towards Woodbridge Island and an area that has been holding fish all summer long on the incoming tide. Used the long wand for the first 45 minutes, only managing one 22" schoolie. First fish on this new 9/9 LLBean Guide Rod as mine broke a few weeks ago and I just got the replacement in the mail.(LL Bean is awesome!)

Switched over to a 6' spinning rod with 12lb test and started using cut herring on an egg sinker....That's when all hell broke loose and we were on fish until 7:45 pm. Caught and Released(thanks to Circle Hooks) over 50 fish, largest at 29"'s. Avg. seemed to be between 22"-24". Some were quite fat and gave a great fight on the little rod. Only left because at 7:45pm it was getting dark and the ol' canoe has no running lights :)

Interesting(at least to me) to note that one of the stripers caught had a big ol' lobster claw in it's mouth.
