I have used zap-a-gap, as Dave suggested, for years and found it to be very durable. The only problem is that the compound has the reverse problem of Goop as it is too hard and therefore the knot "ticks" as it goes through the guides. I made the choice that the nuisance clicking was better than the maintenance some time ago.
