With the Scout in the shop this week[I did something stupid] I loadedup the
15' duck boat and Cocoa and headed to Dover Pt.The ramp was socked in with thick
fog.A guy there said it just came in like a wall 5 min. before I got there.I
cast from shore for a bit and snagged a 4" silverside and missed one hit. Finally
got in the boat and tied on a 4" silverside clouser and started catching fish.
There was alot more bait and surface action this am. than in recent weeks[for
me anyways].Did some exploring and it seemed that Goat Island was the center
of most of the activity.Tons of birds up there but most were going hungry trying
to cash in on the here 10 seconds, there 20 seconds sporadic surface feeding. No
problem with the fast sink line and clouser though.Nothing sensational but I did
manage about 15 fish.Biggest one was a stocky 23" that fought like crazy. At high
slack I tried a big grocery fly[tied by fellow reeltimer Dave Pritchard]along
the G.S.B. embuttments but no takers.I'd never heard of the bannana jinx before
last week and tentatively threw one in the cooler just for yucks.Dont know that
it proved any thing cause I sure as heck didn't slay 'em,but I didn't get
skunked either.More unscientific study needed.Another excuse to go fishing!
Oh-yeah, the stupid thing-I tilted my motor up without dropping the wavegate
first and busted the wavegate bolts thru the glass Duh! Merrill
