I am loyal user of penn reels, both spinning and conventional. For my light rig I use a Penn 5500 on a ultra light medium ugly stick with 12lb silver thread. I love it for light inshore stuff. I have used it two seasons with no problems. Of course regular maintenance is mandatory. I wash the rod and reel after every use with a garden hose on low and inspect and oil the reel about twice a summer. BTW I really like the green silver thread copolymer line. Low diameter, abrasion resistance is excellent and it holds knots nicely.
