Larry: FYI, the way I troll eels is to place them on an eel tin which had been talked about 2-3 weeks ago on this BBS. I'll place a 2,3, or 4 ounce beaded drail at least 3 feet above the eel tin. One thing that has ALWAYS worked for me...troll against the tide! 3 years ago I landed (7) bass from 38" to 43" out of one small rip by doing so (all tagged and released). Other guys who clearly saw that I was slingin' eels trolled right next to me or across my bow, but NONE of them trolled into the current as I did. They went every way but...and they were yelling at me to tell my secret...dummies! Depending on your motor RPM, I'll also take the motor in and out of gear while doing so, and may end with the motor more out of gear. Can't say its the best for the gearcase, but as long as I shift solidly so gears don't clank. Anyway, the last OB went 20+ years before I traded up to more HP. Good luck! Email if you'd like, maybe I can trade you a trip for bass @ Plum Island by boat in exchange for
a trip down your way. Dale
