Whaqt is the deal? I have nver seen anything like the trolling with fly-rods that I have in Watch Hill- Are these not the most boat-shy fish in the world? I dont blame the guys with spin tackle for trolling through the schools since trolling is an important part of their sport, but I have always thought I could count on the flyfishers to have alittle more respect for the other fishermen. I thought flyfishing was a challenge to cast, mend, manage line, tie flies, tie leaders, cast into the wind, learn double-hauls and backcasts, etc Isnt that why we pay 6 times the price for fly gear than spinning stuff. Wasn,t it a little more satisfying to catch a fish on a fly under hard conditions? I am not trying to critize the convential fisherman since God know they usually catch more fish than me not to mention usually have more knowledge and skill when it comes to knowing all the diffent lures and rigs for bait, chumming, plugging, tins, loran, etc. but what about the flyfisherman? if these a
re people who aren't flyfisherman and find it easier to catch Albies trolling flies than more power to them, that proves my point about spin fisherman are a very industrious group- but if they are like me and dont know anything about spinning gear than I have to say shame on you if you tell anyone that you caught these fish FLY_FISHING!!!! does that mean that all these magazines are filled with pictures of trolled, fly caught fish- boy I am more Naive than I thought.
It is hard enough to chase Albies with people trolling through breaking fish but until now i could not blame the people doing it ,but fly-fisherman? there used to be many arguments amoung flyfishers that Nymphing was not as sporting as Dry-Fly fishing but this brings that discussion to a whole new realm of Mootness! Again if you are a spin fisherman please dont take offense it is noe you who I am adressing but if you are a fly-fisherman, I would love to hear the rationale for this- Is catching fish that important that you have prostitute one of the oldest sports for your own pitiful egos? (was that provocative enough?)
