It seems to me Molly thinks harvesting striped bass/fluke/groundfish/bluefin tuna is some sort of birthright for Cape Codders. "A way of life" so to speak. I've only been on the Cape a little over 3 years but it's quite obvious commercial guys have no intention of retraining themselves for other work when the stocks get wiped out. They somehow feel they are a minority. How many of you guys had to retrain or change careers when defense contracts went *fizzzzz* in the mid 80's?...I know I did! I didnt sit on a log with a frown complaining it's the only thing I know how do do...
The other day I was talking to a guy who is a commercial cod fisherman off Chatham. When asked how the fishing was he exclaimed with a greedy grin....*Were just killing em* Meaning the takes are huge and they are not restricted to poundage per trip. I felt like making a new bumper sticker and giving it to these guys that sez...."You sell em...You lose em"..........
