I've kept up with the fine folks at River's End, CT Outfitters, and a few other
shops in the area. The ONLY migrating Stripers in the CT river as of yesterday were
very small schoolies 10"-15". (Just off the train trestle bridge along the DEP
in Old Lyme is a great early season spot.) However, there are pods of Herring
in the river, and this means the "big...bad...Leroy Brown's" are not too far
behind!
To respond to Mr. Powers philosophical viewpoint...notwithstanding the point at
which we started counting, or the changes made to the Lunar calendar since, if a
Decade is defined as "a period of 10 years" & "a series or group of 10", and a
Millenium is defined as "a period of 1,000 years" or "a 1,000 year anniversary",
then how could a decade end in the 9th year and not the 10th, and by extension,
how could a Millenium end in the 999th and not the 1000th?
By deduction, then....the year 2000 is the 1000th year of the Millenium! :-)
BTW, if anyone out "Cape Cod or MA way" sees fit to drive them-(spoiled with an
abundance of fish)selves to CT, I would be happy to spend a day trying to find
Stripers in the river!
