Both my neighbor and I have vintage (72 and 74 20 foot SeaCraft center console boats. both recently repowered with 150 Evenrudes. at the time of repowering each had an aluminum plate thru bolted on transon to increase height to a 25 " standard as compared tpo the stock height oif 20 " . This additional freeboard is helpful when taking seas to stern when maintaining position when fishing rips surf etc. The 150 hp drives thes e two boats at abbout 40 knots. We like our boats alot.
