Night crawlers.....let me introduce "dorfman3" 4 years ago when I first moved up to NH I was exclusively a trouter. I had no idea of the Great Bay. My neighbor told me of a nice spot to fish in July under the GSB. I went there with the only 2 working rods I had at the time: a fenwick 6" light action and a LL Bean Travel spin/fly 4 wt. combo. As I had leftover nightcrawlwers in the fridge and absolutely no idea I took those with me. I set up the pack rod with a size 4 bass hook and two of my largest splitshots. Put a crawlwer on it and through it out. Stuck the handle in a crack in the rocks and opened another beer. Started throwing a 1/2 oz. kastmaster with the fenwick. 2 hours and 6 beers later I heard a clammor. Last I saw of the pack rod it was on it's way to Portsmouth. Discretion being the better part of valor I decided I was worth more than that rod. If any of you know that area of the Piscataqua than you know that there is quite a current there. Probably took only ten minutes t
o get to Portsmouth. I have now got better equipment, don't drink (as much) and have still not tried a night crawler again.
