I own both a Lamson and Teton Tioga. Bang for buck, the Tioga is in my opinion a great reel - will cost you less than the Lamson and, as far as I can tell at least as well made if not better. This has been mentioned before on this board, many clutches on Lamson's have broken. Don't get me wrong, the Lamson is a great reel that you'll be very happy with, but you may be just as happy with the Tioga. I know I am.

Of the Loomis GL3 and Sage DS, owning both again, I would have to say that I'd go with the Sage. The Sage may be a hair slower, but it does have the unconditional warranty that Loomis doesn't. Also, this might not make a difference to anyone else, but my Sage DS rod has a much better grade of cork than the Loomis - after a hard day with the Loomis, the hands are pretty roughed up.
