Would someone please explain to this newcomer the history of the Canal, and the tongue in cheek inuendo and ribbing about people who fish it.
Last summer was the first time I had ever fished the canal and to me, it was a blast, except for those big rats in October...sheesh. I only ran into one drunk guy. I saw pogies being slung for the first time in my life, look out below! I saw this guy cast to the middle and beyond time after time, what a sight. I even saw some guys fly fishing. The climb down on those slippery rocks seemed dangerous. But the best part for me was running after the birds and feeding frenzies. Now I understand what those bikes are for. You could walk all day.
