I live in east-central NH and have been saltwater flyfishing for three years, primarily in the NH-Maine area, Plum Island, Westerly RI and the outer Cape. I focus, not surprisingly, on stripers, although I've managed to catch a couple of blues, too, and last weekend, a flounder. In serious wind, I'll use light spinning gear, but I much prefer flyfishing. This year I'm breaking in a kayak and learning what I can and can't do with it.
Best fish was, of course, the first one, a 21-inch striper off the point at Harkness Memorial in Connecticut. Best fish I've lost was a probable keeper off the breakwater/dike at P'town last fall - the bloody hook snapped after it stripped off maybe 75-100 feet of line.
I use a Sage RPL 9-weight with a Cortland CL 9/10-weight as a reserve, an Orvis 9/10 Battenkill reel, and for the most part a clear medium-fast sinking line. I tie my own flies.
