Been there; done that, twice last year. No fun at all. On one occasion a tern picked a fly out of the air and hooked itself. Bad scene as I tried to control it and cut the line as the hook was in its beak good. I got divebombed by 30 of its friends and I'll tell you; with a bunch of terns swooping at my head; I was scared stiff.
2nd time was a gull who was chasing bait on top of false albacore and which ran into my line and tangled itself. This one came free after a bit of work; using a friends jacket to subdue the bird helped a lot as it shut up and stayed wtill while I untangled its wing.
Gulls have a big wingspan, but I remember the beak more. Thats a serious weapon..
