Had a great afternoon fishing with fellow RT'er Art Burton along the Rhody shore. Came upon a "mini-blitz" with Bass and Blues pushing silversides up onto the beach. Art caught one (could have been a keeper) striper, I didn't catch one, but still had a blast. Time spent fishing is always a learning experience. Guys on both sides of us pulled in a couple "just-keeper" stripers and a few blues. The school moved slowly down the beach and we actually chased them in Art's 4WD along the beach at one point. Guys were still picking up a few fish even when the main school was 200-300 yards down the beach. Hate to say it but the Spin guys (w/ sluggos and poppers) were out fishing the fly guys. I had two problems, I probably think I should of had a popper on - I had a White Deciever, and I didn't have my waders on as we spinted out of the truck. I was sometimes just 10 feet short of getting it were the fish were. Also drove down near Watch Hill Light, and guys were picking up 6-8 l
b. blues consistently.
Art, thanks for the great afternoon - you know your way around, you know your "stuff" and I appreciate you giving me the afternoon.
