Fished the dead low at Mike P's latest super secret hot spot around 1:00am. Driving rain, but the winds died down.
Got to the beach and first thing I noticed are small herring (juv bunker - pogies for you New Englanders) dead along the beach front. As I watched, bass would invade the shallows and bait would come flying out of the water!! Well you all know what happens next - yep - it was schoolie every cast for two hours!! No Idea how many... Countless. What a blast. Not large - say 15 - 22" but fun. Hit everything I had - color didn't matter. Black snake fly, Jay's "8wt popper", and small herring patterns (tied for me by R-T'er Joel Meunier ) worked best.
At one point there was so much bass they were busting INCHES (!) from me in waist high water. I stoped just to watch the action for a while. What beauty .
What a way to end a slump!
