Eeled Nobska from 8-9 last night. The place was spooky: pitch black, thick fog, with just the lighthouse beam scatter illuminating occasionally like a giant strobe. Got soaked a couple of times from waves I couldn't see. Winds light, weed not bad. No hits. Got spooked (really spooked) and left.
Poked around B. Bay estuaries yesterday mid-day. Came up with a new fly casting method: hold rod verticvally as high as you can, and feed line. I got the whole line out a couple of times. When it blows where you want it, drop the rod and retrieve. It works. Got some schoolies.
Went back this morning, nothing on eels until I saw a good fish following right up to my feet. Took a hint from Bob G. and ditched eel for sluggo, and bingo. 3 in mid-twenties in 45 mins. What gives?
