On the Water by 7 a.m. Hit Wianno which was alive with thousands of false albacore. Landed one on my first cast and my fishing partner landed one on his thrird. As is expected (see supersttion thread on previous board), my first-cast hook-up proved to be bad luck as I dropped my next two hooked fish. Fortunately, the bad luck didn't last long as we both managed to hook and land several more before the bite died around 9:30. Chatted briefly with Thorne Sparkman and headed to Poppy where we met up with Larry Backman. Landed some nice stripers around the tent and had a school of albies pop up under Larry's boat :-) Headed to Succonesset where we landed some blues, spanish mackerel and I dropped two very large albies which almost managed to spool me before spitting the hook :-(. Fishe were hitting bunny flies on fast sinking (depth charge 400 grains) lines. Enjoyed listening to our favorite NOAA radio personality, Ron Carbone as he told about the 10-15 knt winds we were experiencing. Unf
ortunately, they were more like 25 knt winds. Headeed inside to escape the 10 -15 winds and found stripers and blues galore inside North Bay. All in all a great day with a slam for each of us. Larry, did you go back out? Will hit Wainno at first light tomorrow (hopefully before the winds do).
