Frank:
when you troll short w/ your twin outboard setup, don't you find the lures too cloe to the engine wash? W/ my boat and its lack of riggers to get the lures outside the beam of the boat I have to get the lure back at least 20 or 30 yards to get them into clean water; any shorter and they dissapear in the white water from the outboard.
Steve: this fish dumped an entire reel of 4400 10# test and never ever slowed. Whats Harker Island proportions? 15 pounds? Also - how were you casting to get down w/ your 450 grain? Against the current or with the current?
I was having little luck w/ my 250 grain sinking line - cast with the current and it streamed and never penetrated, cast against the current and with the wind and boat drift I was instantly and constantly out of contact w/ the fly.
