We got to the mouth before the sun came up and picked up 5 fish on the first
drift. Then the sun came up and things slowed noticeably. We continued
doing drifts from the jetties out to the first can and usually managed
to get fish each time. I estimate that we got about 25 stripers by
10 a.m. and most were 20-25 inches long. The 9 inch sluggos were working
well again and I finally wore my last one out. They hold up very well and
you can keep chopping off the leading 1/2 inch as they wear. We also tried
near the Icebreaker and the edge of Joppa but just managed a couple of
small fish.
The reports on the radio also confirmed that bluefish were not around.
We heard one report near the end of the morning that suggested blues
were located at Halibut Point.
