9/13 No More 4-wt!

Received an early birthday present from my fiancee today...

Took a little day trip to Maine...she wanted to go to some of the outlet stores, and we both wanted to enjoy the outdoors. And of course, I brought along my trusty 4-wt for some evening striper action.

Lo and behold, she bought me a Sage SP+ 9-ft 8-wt! With a Lamson reel, loaded with 200 yds 20-lb backing and Teeny 350 line. Sweet!

Had to give it a test drive, of course--but with a tear of sadness, now that the 4-wt affair is over, back to fresh water only.

The Sage SP+ plus the Teeny line is a ROCKET! A couple of false casts and it's nearly ripping out the backing! MUCH, MUCH more distance than the 4-wt! Even with some wind! <G>

Even though I didn't catch any fish--neither did the half dozen surfcasters chunking bait--I had a blast casting in the breeze.

Bring on the big'uns!
