Keep the opinions coming guys.
After 4:00 PM today, it will be too late!
Brian at Old Salt, also recommended strongly against a shooting head, but for reasons I can't quite understand.....He didn't recommend against it to me, when I was buying them.....
He says that a shooting head will give you a false idea of your real casting ability, and that it would be difficult to go back to a full line...
I use just an intermediate shooting head, and a fast sink. I have no intention of ever going back to a full line. I do however use only full lies on my trout rods, and don't seem to have any problem casting them.
Does this mean that I am a weirdo, or just a crappy caster? Probably the latter.
This is precisely why I was leery about giving advice re: fly lines!
By the way, to whomever was talking about price, shooting heads are cheaper than full lines.
Maybe the best idea, is to start with a full intermediate....
Still Wondering......
