Just moved to the Boston area from Manhattan. Have tried stripers on the fly four times now, and been skunked each time. Currently using my trout rod--a 9 ft 4-wt, which should make things fun. Been fly-fishing for 20 years, and plan to do it another 50, at least.
I've found this board very helpful and informative. While I've yet to catch my first striper, I'm giving it another shot up at Plum Island tomorrow morning. Gonna fish 1 1/2 hours either side of low tide in the a.m. Still chucking olive/white and chartreuse/white clousers, as have been recommended, and keeping the faith...I'm due!
You'll know me out on the water as I'll be the one able to cast only 10 ft with my little 4-wt. as soon as any breeze picks up. ;)
