You guys beat me to the punch. Yes, the state discontinued the coho planting
program some time ago. At the time, there were complaints from some that the
hatchery-bred coho were spreading disease to native species in the river but I don't know
how well-founded those comments were. Even less well-known is that the coho
were also running up Scorton Creek. Saw someone land a VERY large coho on a
fly rod (I'd estimate 15-18 lbs).

Art, I believe New Hampshire also tried to introduce king (chinook) salmon to
the Lamprey River, but the program was cut before it ever had a chance to get off
the ground.
