You know scott, i had, with the emphasis on had, respect for your opioion and your posts. You cleaverly disguised your complaint about lobstering with a tear-jerker observation about nature. Let me state for the record that many of us live in this town and enjoy the canal and its resources on a year round basis. we're not just some "hillbilly" out-of-town yahoos who shows up to raise hell for a couple of months when the bass show up! Believe it or not, we actually go and set those traps in february or march well in advance of anyone fishing the canal. I've been at it for 25 years. You know what, i really don't care how many lobsters i get! It's just fun going out. Anyone who you catergorize as a regular, is just a regular "jerk, moron, or idiot" if he indiscriminatly pulls traps which belong to others, simply because they are there. As long as i buy the traps, bait them, set them, pay my fee to the state($260 since i have a comm lic.) those traps and lobsters are mine. Why should anyone lose a trap that costs upwards of $40, just because someone loses a hook. Sorry i cane down hard on you, but it's not funny. there are plenty of bass fishermen who lobster, and i really hope you were not advocating this type of behavior. As for the amount of traps increasing three fold, how much has the bass fishing pressure increased in the canal? It's probably 10 fold from what it was 25 years ago. Doesn't it therefore stand to reason the lobstering pressure would also increase. What seems like a waste to you, is fun to someone else. I just enjoy going! I'm sorry i didn't ask your permission, i didn't think you'd mind!
