I'll still stand by what i said. My traps are in the water about8 months a year. Perhaps 30 feetoff the rocks. I know that's how far since that's how much cable i use. I only get maybe, and i'll stress maybe a dozen hooks a year. Most times when I check my traps, fishermen were not even aware that there were traps present. Anyone who considers himself a "regular" ad indiscriminatly pull traps is damaging the property of others and is breaking the law. Recreatioal and commercial lobstering has always been permitted in the canal if you are properly licensed. You obviously have no idea how frustrating it is to have your trap pulled, the lobsters(keepers, eggers, and shorts) taken. Then have your trap just thrown on the rocks, to face being smashed or stolen. this all goes back to Canal Etiquette. The canal has become a multi-use recreational area. Bass fishermen, lobster fishermen, roller-bladders, cyclists, all have to get along. What next? If you don't like all the roller bladders, you going to string trip wires across the service road? I'm not trying to stir up a fight, but i've lobstered in the canal for years. I don't like having my gear messed with. I didn't mean to attack scott personally, it just seemed like he might have endorsed the illicit behavior of other so called regulars.
