bass at M.G. before dawn as per the usual plan - low dying tide; poppers in tne rips. Long run eastwards when the tide died to see diving birds all over a flat. I picked up nothing in 20 minutes, moved and hard a hit and a lot of line go out in a hurry before the fish got off. Did not act like a bass or or blue - but who knows.
On the way home I slowed at Waquouit and something blew up right at my feet that appeared suspiciously like bonito. We all know what chances you have of casting at fish 3' off the side of the boat :-(.
After I got home I took my usual run along the Falmouth beach.
Rocky and other shore fisherman - yo.
To my absolute and complete surprise I saw bass and bonito in 2' of water hammering bait in the corner of a jetty somewhere along the Falmouth coast. Easily reachable by shore and pretty obvious when I thought about it.
