I asked the same question last month. The consensus was that after a week you'll start getting slime growing which you'll havr to scrub and spray off when you pull the boat. However, the converse is that bottom paint is a pain to put on, expensive and toxic to both you and the environment.
For a week you'll be fine w/ out it provided you give your boat a good scrubbing when you pull it out.
