Franklin: I have fished for stripers with a LOOP 3W for about 4 years now without a single problem. Paired with my T&T 909HS, it is a lightweight but powerful combo. I fish 3-4 times a week, usually wading or from my kayak. The exposed reel components mentioned by Adam haven't been problematic. On the rare occasions when sand or other grit has found its way into the reel, it has been easily dispatched with a quick dunking. I am religious about washing the reel out in freshwater immediately after use, though. The simple design of the reel makes this an easy task. I've also never missed a true drag, but I have yet to hook into a bonito or albie. I hope this is helpful to you.
