I first remove the line from the reel into a bucket of soapy water (seperate from backing and lop off mono on head). Pull the line from the bucket of soapy water through a wet/soapy rag (pinching it firmly and streatching it to remove twist) into a bucket of clean water. I may do this several times. After the line is cleaned, untwisted and dryed I apply a coat of Wison Creek "Greased Lightening" line cleaner/conditioner with the pad supplied.
For storage I have nails in the wall right up next to the ceiling in my shop. I hang the line in about 8 foot loops over the nail and leave it there all winter.
Line is in great shape in the spring.(or has been for the past few years)
