Day 1 10-17 Sat.
More of a scouting day than a fishing day. Drove the shore starting
in Narragansset. Stopped at point Judith. There were birds working
about 300 yards out. They didn't come in.
Continued down the coast. Stopped at east beach. Decided to fish. I thought
there was a weed bank in front of me. That was no weed bank that was a
large school of baby pogies making there way down the beach. Nothing on
them. Didn't catch anything. Kept going south made a few stops along
the way but didn't find anything.
Decided to fish the state beach at Misquamicut. Managed two blues and two
bass. There were birds working about 200yrds out. They never came in.
boats on them in a hurry.
Had to rush home to go to the Providence Bruins game.

Day 2 10-18 Sun.
Skipped Narragansset and headed straight for Misquamicut. Stopped at a few
places on the way but didn't see anything. Stopped at Duns breachway before
the state beach. There was a bass and bluefish blitz at the end of the
jetty and the beach around 2pm. Lots of people in on it. Decided there were
too many people and headed to the state beach. What a mistake. The wind
picked up and nothing showed. Tried for a good three hours with nothing.
The wind and surf was brutal.

Day 3 10-19 Mon.
Started at east beach. Took one look at the beach and decided to go
somewhere else. The wind was cranking and the waves were about 6'. Didn't
see much happening. Went down to quonny nothing happening. Went down to
duns breachway. The wind was cranking and nothing was happening. Went
back up to Point Judith to get out of the wind. Tried for awhile and didn't
get anything. Didn't see anything. Went all the way down to Duns again to
see if the outgoing tide calmed the surf. No way. Nothing was going on.
No bait no birds no fish. Lots of wind and waves though. Worked my way north
. Stopped at a few beaches to take a look. All were the same. Huge surf, wind
and no activity.
Frustrated and almost ready to call it quits I decided to make one last stop.
I stopped at Black Point around 3pm. This area was shielded from the wind.
Nice to be out of the wind for a change.
On the second cast something swiped at my plug. What a fish? Couldn't believe
it. Well it's about time! On the 5th cast a blue slammed my plug. That was it.
The blues had some bait up against the rocks. Nobody there but me and the sun.
Had a ball. Caught about 4 football 8' blues. Many more missed the plug. Hooked
a big blue but he spit it. Caught a few schoolies in between. Saw a blue
fish jump out of the water. After about an hour with the bluefish they left
and the bass moved in. Was catching schoolies pretty consistantly. A boil
arupted right in front of me. Took a cast and had a 24" bass. They disappeared
quickly. The bass were in the 15" to 24" range. I left around 6:30. The action
slowed a bit and I was not prepared for the dark. I left everything in my
car figuring I wasn't going to be there that long.

Hopefully the wind will calm and the water clear on the south side. Lots of
bait in the water and the water is still warm. I think the fishing will hold
for awhile on the RI coast.
