Started at weakapaug, drove all the Hot spots of the weekend to find south shore roiled by wind and waves. not a bird or fish to be seen. Had 17 year old swiss kid David in tow (exchange student staying with one of my employee's).David has been reading your reports and wanted to try his luck. He has only fished once in sweeden with a rope ! I think he meant hand line..All the way to charlestown breachway, back to misqamicut, same story..quik hop to weekapaug around the change of tide 2:30 he goes out to the end of the jetty and comes running back to the truck..."I SEE THEM!!!!THEY HUGE !! his first blue was pretty good about 10 lbs.and of course he got cut of by the rocks.re-rigged a squid like small jig he got on about a dozen before the crowds pushed us off the jetty...the blues took small jigs tippd with white plastic grubs ..he even hooked and lost a couple on plugs. even with steel leaders the little 5 to 7 lb. choppers in the school would bite us off..BUT thats bluefishing I'm j
ust glad he caught some fish..got his picture with the fish /rod /big grin!! ALL the way home he didn't stop talking about the fish..and I don't even think he was botherd by getting wet or the smell of bluefish on us..I haven't lost lures like that ever.To tell the truth I would have traded a rod and reel to see that kid smile like that...mike longo
