Paul,

I have heard that blues are in the harbor, but I don't know if you can reach them from shore. Looking at a map there is East Shore Park or Lighthourse Pt. These place might be worth checking out. On the other hand, Short Beach on Stratford Pt. is hot. This is at the mouth of the Housatonic River and produces very well on an outgoing tide. Some very big bluefish have been caught there recently. You can wade the flats about two hours after the tide turns. Other spots include Fairfield Beach, Penfield Reef, and Sherwood Island State Park. All are within 20 - 30 minutes of New Haven. I'll be at Penfield Reef this Saturday afternoon and evening with my wife. If you want to fish the reef, you need to get there at around 5:30 pm on Saturday. Sunset at 6 pm. Low tide is at 8:30. This area cannot be waded at high tide. I suggest that you call the Fairfield Flyshop on Firday to get the latest info. With the cold front coming through, fishing might be slow, so it would be worth callin
g. If you need additional info, please let me know. Good Luck and Happy 16th.
