The cleanup conclave idea is a good one- and one with some historical precedent.
Have any other hikers out there done trail rebuilding- or comparable restoration
work in mountain biking areas? This kind of thing not only generates some
favorable publicity, but it can also provide a solid countering argument when
local authorities (or landowners) want to shut down access to areas we'd all rather
keep open. I'm in- with a health supply of trash bags.
