Ok, gotta think about giving Adam his 8wt back. Taking a casting lesson in the Am to insure proper mechanics for a winter of casting practice. Also strongly considering an early Nov. trip to N. Carolina to continue "Rocky's speedster quest '98". Now....here's my thought process: Probably will end up (long term)with four fly rods..a 7wt, a 10 wt., a primary 9 wt. and a backup 9 wt. My first rod will eventually end up as my backup 9wt. Don't want to spend more that $300 for that stick, but it will be the stick I take south for the Albies, practice with all winter and use next year. I'm thinking St. Croix Ultra. Anyone want to suggest a better course???? Are the single foot guides on that rod something to consider?? Also would consider a used rod in this price range if someone wants to dump one of those hi priced numbers for a song!! :-)
