Played hookey today with my partner. left westport at 8 AM did'te hasve to leave harbor- harbor was crazy with schoolies and birds working thgem - one school near the herring run, another on bailey's faly (the large sandbar just inside mouth) and another large school up river towaRDS Tripps. Caught 10 or so and decxided we ewanted bigger fish. went to sakonnet (East Island) HUGE school of large stripers moving very fast. wee caught 4 or five apiece before they headed south. went up rivewr above sakonnet harbor. school of picky and shy baSS. Back to Sakonnet near East island. Found a dense school of pogies 10-12 " . Very large blue (fewe) were having a good time picking out stragglers. Robbie in his boat using spinning gear caught a monstor (12 or more pounds) the blues would cruise into the school of pogies. We had numerous hookups on flys but landed only one 8 lb blue (not bad on an 8 eweight!). tide was slowing down. returned to Werstport to fish the current under the floating docks
at the Yacht Club next to tripps. Caught many small schoolies and shad and one 25" striper!. Same plan for tomorrow. see you there!.
