Re: Trout/fly question!

Well Bob,
The tame trout instinctively start hitting flies and such right off the bat. Soon after stocking they are hungry enough. However, you need to learn how to tie a cigarette butt pattern for those extremely domestic stockies. A trout feed, pellet pattern is also a hot number for fall stockies. Though, any marshmellow looking thing will do.
A difficult pattern to master, but as deadly as any worm or other natural forage is the irreplaceble "S'Mores" pattern, with chocolate, marshmellow, and graham cracker immitating colors and action.
Ooh, and don't forget the music! Hatcheries usually have a radio or two on the grounds. Music signifies people present. And, people present signify FEEDING TIME! In my experience, I've found that the larger, quality trout have a special fondness for "Pink Floyd" and "The Grateful Dead". Though the younger, smaller and immature fry unfortunately seem to favor the out of tone moanings of "Pearl Jam" and "Smashing Pumkins". (can't account for taste, but what ever works, eh?)
Hope this helps, and as always, tite lines!! ;-) :-)

-John-
