Tony, it does get frayed but i have never noticed a decrease in strength although it must do something to it. I have fished it nights with fire and just increase the leader lenght by a foot without any problems. Somenights the leader makes more fire then the line itself.....don't you love the feel of those hits, my mono feels mushy to use now and i get a lot less hooksets on mono.
