There was a great article about shark fishing equipment in 'On the water' sometime this spring (April?). It talks mostly about bait tackle. There was also a recent article about fly fishing for blue sharks in Mass. Bay in a recent (~3 month old) national FF mag. If you can't find both of those two, drop me an email, and I'll look through my back issues.

I had an opportunity to catch a 7' (tiger) shark on a 12 wt fly rod this summer. It worked, but it wasn't a lot of fun, as it developed into a long quasistatic tug of war that got as boring as things get. I'm not sure a 13 or 14 rod would have worked any better, and a 12 wt does give you more versatility.
