My problem with fireline anf other braids is their tendency to part while casting. I love the line for plugging, but have been loosing a lot of lures to lines that part during casts for no obvious reason. I look at the line carefully and retie whenvever fuzz or similar signs of abrasion are evident. I use 20 lb line. Are others having problems with plugging with fireline? Any other lines out there which work better?

Also, I have a PENN 6500 spooled up with 60 lb fireline, and it works great on a heavy-duty stand-up rod. I've had a bull dolphin drag me down the length of a 150' research vessel keel, and a barracuda tangle in the rudders, with no obvious signs of damage on the line afterward. The 60 lb line has never snapped when casting and has lasted the whole season. It seems perfect for heavy stand-up!
