I now use "Fusion" only 2-1 strength ratio to mono but still no stretch. The fibers are fused together with some kind of coating so you don't get the fuzz or that annoying separation. Knots are still a problem. From what I read using a barrel swivel between the leader sounds best. I get 95% strength with an imp. clinch. All the fancy knots won't work on the end of a jetty in the dead of night with the waves busting over the rocks threatening to sweep you off. I can't imagine tieing a 30 turn Bimini twist in those conditions.
