"Oilman" Julian,
I've lived in Wareham for over 11 years but have mainly concentrated on the Canal. However, (coincidentally) I just bought a place which is closer to the Weweantic and will be planning to explore it more in depth as I get moved in and settled this su
mmer. (both shore and boat) So, I plan on following this particular thread closely. I hope you get some good info.
I have fished it a few times for schoolies, have done OK and often see guys flyfishing from boats just under the power lines. Besides fishing around the rte 6 bridge, two other good access points are:
1) At the Rte 6 bridge there is a tavern called "The Red Rooster". You can park there or on one of the dirt turn outs on the road. Bring waders. Simply follow one of the paths There is one across the street from the tavern which leads to the grassy flats.
LOW TIDE ONLY. And there may be paths behind the tavern, I've never tried them.
2) Rte 6 west from Wareham. Just before the bridge is "Briarwood Dr." on the left. It leads to the point just under the power lines. You can see it from rte 6. The shoreline is flat and shallow, but drops off into a deep hole where the current runs it's c
ourse.

I'm going to check into the Cromessett and Point Rd areas when I get a chance this summer. If you have questions our (better yet) have info to share, feel free to e-mail me............
