The suggestion about the dropper does work. You'll have to try different combinations of lures and lures and flies to see what casts better. Some combos foul less with the fly infront of the plug, some with it behind.

I've had people use this technique when I'm consistantly catching fish on the fly and they aren't doing much with the plugs. It is usually a result of stripers focusing on very small bait such as juv. sand eels or silversides. If you see fish and small ba
it but don't do much with your lures try a small fly ahead of or behind your lure.
